Here at Sewing Days we are now running workshops and these will be run by our new tutors Alison (dress making) and Sue (quilting)

for beginners, intermediate and advanced. Please check below
We offer beginners sewing lessons for children and adults. Lessons can be arranged one-to-one, or in a group of up to four.
For beginners, we offer a one-hour weekly lessons. This introduces our beginners to basic sewing techniques as they make a lined bag. then you can carry on to do lots more projects.
For those looking for something more specific, please get in touch to talk about your experience and what you would like to learn so we can tailor sessions to your needs.
Tuesday and Thursdays evening classes are run for people to pursue their own makes, while Joanne and Alison provides tutoring, guidance and encourages confidence in your own abilities
Some example projects include, making a simple summer dress or bags & bunting. If you have something you have always fancied trying to make, let us know and we’ll do our best to help.
All these are arranged between yourself and the tutor.

The two new sewing rooms will be ready by June, each room can accommodate 4 students and a tutor safely observing social distancing.

A beginners guide to free motion. In this workshop you will learn how to use your machine to master the art of free motion. You will have 2 rounds of learning the skills of flowers and leaves that our tutor Sue will show you. Then you will have a beautiful piece of linen to do the final masterpiece that you can make into a picture, cushion or even put onto a bag.
Please note that to carry on at home honing your new found skills you will need to bring your own machine, and extension table. All fabrics are included in the price.
This workshop is great for anyone that has not been on a machine before or you just need to brush up on those skills learnt in your school days while getting to know or reacquainting yourself with a sewing machine you will be making and decorating a calico tote bag, line it make handles and a pocket to take home
This is a great way to carry on building your quilting skills, here you will earn the basics of building a Dresden plate in 2 different fabrics
you will also learn ...cutting / sub cutting, plastic template cutting and using, 1/4 " foot /set up, chain piecing, setting seams and pressing, circular template, you will need 3 x 6" strips and 18" square backing. This will make a perfect cushion front .
Here at this new workshop you will get to make a sample, lined roman blind you will find out how to measure the windows, sew and calculate the drops for the batons and string up the blind for fitting you will need some sewing experience for this workshop.

On this workshop you will learn how to measure, calculate and put together a lined sample curtain that you can use to look back on when you wish to make them at home, we will be dipping into pattern matching too to help you when making large curtains. You will need some sewing experience for this workshop.

take a look at our beautiful faux taxidermy stag head, we have named our makes Hamish and you will see Rudolph starring in our Christmas window display this year. You can make him in some of the beautiful 100% wools we have in the shop or you could mix it up and go for something off the wall the fabric choice is yours

These days are for anyone that has a reasonable knowledge of a machine, and are interested in making any clothing whether its for you or a child. You will have up to 6 hours of sewing time with our tutor on hand all day.

These days are for anyone that is having trouble with their quilting whether its cutting, nesting seams, 1/4 in seams, sequence of pressing and getting that perfect look then these days are for you. Our tutor will see you through to a full block that will look professional.
This workshop is dedicated to making this beautiful wall hanging, made from a border fabric with matching fabrics to make the window. Fabrics are included in the price
Please note these lessons are one to one.
Get that demon out of the cupboard and bring it along so we can show you how to use it, change the threads and once you have mastered this it will be your best friend.
Please note you will need to bring your machine and 4 different coloured threads.

On this workshop you will get an introduction into the very addictive world of patchwork.
You will start with a 9 patch that you will then turn into a disappearing 9 patch

This time you will learn the art of putting together triangles to make the most beautiful patterns.
